The city of Geneva, Switzerland, located at the end of the shores of Lac Léman, will be the host of the BioFabbing Convergence.

IdeaSquare at CERN is a test facility that hosts R&D projects and offers meeting space and prototyping facilities. Its purpose is to bring together people with new ideas in an open environment and help shape and improve on them further, towards socially and globally relevant new product ideas and innovation

Directions

Take the tram 18 to CERN, and get off at the terminal station. There is a 7min walk to IdeaSquare. Access is controlled and you need a visitors card to enter.

Transportation

The local transport in Geneva is dense and reliable. Tickets can be purchased in machines located at most stops. The “Tout Gèneve” ticket is valid for 60min and costs CHF 3. Transport schedules can be accessed at  sbb.ch/en and tpg.ch/en, both have iOS and android.

Travel to Geneva

The best connection to Geneva is the Geneva Airport. It is located about 7 min by train to Geneva’s main train station–Gare Cornavinthe ticket price is CHF 3, alternatively upon your arrival you can get a free ticket from a machine near the exit at the baggage claim area.

Connections from other Swiss airports to Gare Cornavin include: EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg, (3hr 15 min, CHF 81), and Zurich Airport (3 hr 5 min, CHF 93)

How to get to CERN hotel

There is a free CERN shuttle service from/to the airport, which stops right in front of the departure hall in the Airport and stops at CERN’s Main Building (Bldg. 500), and the CERN Hotel (Bldg. 39). If you don’t have a CERN badge it will drop you at the CERN reception (bldg. 33). It runs from Monday to Friday from 8:30-19:30, every 50-80 min (consult timetables). The ride is about 15 min.
